The crime branch on Thursday filed a chargesheet against four accused in a three-year-old case of loot where a constable died in cross-firing.

The chargesheet revealed that the group had planned a loot and attack on the crime branch in order to take revenge for the Godhra massacre which was followed by the arrest of a Maulvi and death of a youth in police firing.

According to the chargesheet, Viqar Ahmed, Saiyad Amjad Ali, Moh Latif Saiyad and Izhar Khan are members of a terrorist outfit known as Darshgah Jehad-e-Shahadat.

The group had met in Hyderabad where they conspired to take revenge for the Godhra attack. The group also was upset by the arrest of Maulvi Nasruddin by the then ACP, crime branch, NK Amin and death of one youth Salim Aazam in police firing while controlling a mob.

The investigation further revealed that the group, aggrieved by such atrocities, decided to call for a jihad against the state government where they planned to loot a bank and use the money to perpetuate an attack on the police crime branch.

In this conspiracy, the logistic support was provided by one Latif, who was a resident of Ahmedabad and helped the others in getting accomodation and other support. Moreover, Latif also helped to coordinate with Izhar Khan who was residing in Lucknow for procuring arms and ammunition. The arms were bought from one Hasim Uzma who has not yet been arrested.

On August 22, 2007 the group had stolen a moterbike which was used by the group to attempt the loot. On November 8, 2007 they gathered at the Maninagar branch of HDFC bank which they had planned to rob.

Meanwhile, two officials, Anil Kumar and Vinay Yadav, were on petrol duty, and they found the group suspicious and conducted a search on them. In the search they found a revolver but before they could take any action the group started firing. Yadav was injured and later on died.

The accused in the case were arrested on September 12, 2010 by the crime branch from Hyderabad.
