3 duped of Rs45 lakh in three cheating cases

Conmen used varied modus operandi to extract money.

Three separate complaints of cheating on Monday amounted to over Rs45 lakh duped were filed at three police stations-Karanj, Sola and Naranpura.

In his complaint at Karanj, one Vanraj Hajipara, alleged that two persons convinced his father to help them and took Rs15,000 from Girdharlal. According to Vanraj, Dilip and Sanjay approached his father near Bhadra and asked him to give some money for the treatment of Dilip's son, who they said was admitted to Sterling Hospital. However, after taking the money, the duo vanished.

In another complaint filed at Sola police station, Vishnu Patel, owner of a tractor showroom near Sola high court, alleged that four persons purchased tractors worth Rs45.51 lakh from him and sold them to some one else. According to Vishnu, the four persons are Allarakha Memon, Raziyabanu Mohammad Razzaq, Asif Memon, and Md Sadiq Memon. They had purchased the tractors, worth Rs45.51 lakh, on credit.

Usmanpura-resident Sonal Shah, in her complaint alleged that two persons convinced her they will deliver her three scooters, for which they took Rs1.62 lakh from her. However, they vanished with the cash. According to Sonal, one Mittal Shah and Bijal Shah identified themselves as two-wheeler dealers and cheated her by taking money in advance.
