2009 hooch tragedy kingpin arrested in Ahmedabad

One of the prime accused in the July 2009 hooch tragedy, Jayesh Thakkar has been nabbed by the Anand police when he was stealing diesel from a petrol pump. The hooch tragedy had claimed over 130 lives in Ahmedabad. Thakkar was released on bail by the court in the hooch tragedy and was caught again in another criminal case.

According to case details, RV Asari, SP of Anand, was on patrol with his team on Wednesday night when he saw some people moving about suspiciously around a closed petrol pump on the outskirts of Mogar village. When the police team went towards the spot, they found Thakkar and another accomplice stealing diesel from the tank of diesel tanker in a petrol pump. The police immediately arrested Thakkar and three other people along with a scorpio car and mobile phones. They also lodged a complaint for diesel theft.

Jayesh Thakkar had supplied 1,200 litres of methanol to kingpins of Ahmedabad's hooch tragedy - Vinod Dagri and Sunil More. Thakkar was arrested from Vadodara along with Vinod Dagri in 2009.
