2 persons declare candidacy for Tibetan prime minister election

The Tibetan election commission also announced registration dates from November 30 to January 17 for eligible voters, who have missed the preliminary rounds of elections.

Two Tibetans have declared their candidacy for next year's final elections of Kalon Tripa -- the head of Tibetan government-in-exile.
 
"When the Election Commission asks me to confirm my candidacy, I will accept," Tenzin Namgyal Tethong, former Kalon Tripa or prime minister who trailed the preliminary elections' leading candidate Lobsang Sangay, said.
 
While, Lobsang, a senior research fellow at the Harvard School of Law, wrote "With profound humility I accept the Tibetan people's nomination for Kalon Tripa candidate." He posted the comment on a website run by his supporters.
 
Lobsang got 10,000 votes more than Tenzin in the preliminary elections held in October.
 
Lobsang thanked his supporters, saying the overwhelming support and trust has humbled and inspired him. "I am determined to maintain your faith in me. I extend my deep appreciation to the other dedicated and deserving candidates."
 
The Tibetan election commission, as per the electoral rules, has shortlisted a top six candidates for the final round of Kalon Tripa elections, due to be held on March 20, 2011.
 
It will seek confirmation the six shortlisted candidates for the final elections.
