Official sources said the inmates went on a fast in the jail premises alleging regular assault at the hand of such elements and demanding they be shifted to other jail forthwith.

Altogether 173 inmates of the sub-jail at Jhanjharpur in Madhubani district of Bihar today sat on an indefinite fast demanding transfer of certain prisoners, they termed as hardened, to other jails.
Official sources said the inmates went on a fast in the jail premises alleging regular assault at the hand of such elements and demanding they be shifted to other jail forthwith.
Jail Superintendent Ravi Bhushan said senior officials have been apprised about the development.
