13 MPs in Ahmebadad to study Bus Rapid Transit System

These MPs belong to the Railway Convention Committee, comprising of other delegates from western and central railways. These members have expressed their desire to see and study the BRTS project and Kankaria Lake Development project.

After visits of delegations from countries like the USA and Indonesia, it's time for Indian Members of Parliament (MPs) to visit and experience the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) of Ahmedabad. On Thursday, 13 MPs from different states visited the city and made themselves familiar with the functioning of the BRTS.

These MPs belong to the Railway Convention Committee, comprising of other delegates from western and central railways.
These members have expressed their desire to see and study the BRTS project and Kankaria Lake Development project.
Along with the 13 MPs, 22 officials of western railway headquarters travelled via the BRTS buses and visited the Gandhi Ashram during their daylong study tour.

According to deputy municipal commissioner Captain Dilip Mahajan, the troupe wished to know more about the successful implementation of the BRTS and how the system has transformed the commuting habits of city dwellers. "They also wanted to know about the implementation of public private partnerships which have fueled other developmental projects in the city," said Mahajan.

Municipal commissioner IP Gautam welcomed the delegation at the Kankaria Lake Front and shared details about the transformation of the Kankaria with them. The delegation includes Chhota Udaipur MP, Ram Singh Rathwa.

Other MPs include Orissa MP Arjun Sethi, Chandrapur MP Hansraj Ahir, Lalgunj MP Dr Baliram, Sitamarhi MP Arjun Rai and Shyamal Chakravorty from West Bengal. Executive director of railway board, VP Dudheja, was also among the delegates.
