13 mines explode in Poonch following major fire

The mines exploded due to fire that broke out on the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) side of the LOC in Chakenbag road and later spread to the Indian side, senior army officials said.

Nearly 13 mines exploded after a major fire broke out along the Line of Control (LOC) in Poonch district this afternoon but there were no casualties, senior army officials said.

The mines exploded due to fire that broke out on the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) side of the LOC in Chakenbag road and later spread to the Indian side, they said.

Due to the fire, 12-13 mines exploded, causing panic along the border, they said, adding, no loss of life or injury was reported.

Forest officials, army and civilians are extinguishing the fire, they said.
