In a government school in Tiruchengode, Namakkal, four Class 11 schoolgirls were allegedly found drinking beer in the classroom. They have now been dismissed from school for this act reports a leading daily.

The girls were apparently given transfer certificates on Monday as per the instructions of the chief educational officer S Gopidoss, added the report. November 16 was declared a holiday by the principal due to the excessive rains and exams were also postponed to November 21. It looks like around seven students who were in Class 11 came to the school to celebrate a birthday and got beer in soft drink bottles. The students were later found drunk in the classroom by the class teacher. She informed the headmistress and they took them to the hospital.

The four students apparently confessed to have had alcohol during an inquiry by the school. The chief educational officer ordered that they be issued TCs. The other three students were let off with a stern warning by the headmistress adds the report.
