Maharashtra: Heavy rains derail Western Railway train near Nandurbar; several long route trains cancelled

Heavy rains in the Nandurbar region of Maharashtra has caused damage to Western Railway tracks leading to the derailment of two coaches of the Surat-Nandurbar Mainline Electrical Multiple Unit (MEMU).

The incident took place at 11:35 pm on Sunday. There were no injuries to any passenger, said WR in a statement.

" Nearly 250-300 meter railway track has been washed out due to very heavy rains. Restoration work is underway," said an official.

Taking to micro-blogging site, Railway said, "It has been found that bout 400 mtrs of tracks is washed out at different locations near Nandurbar due to rains. Rescue operation in full swing." 

"All Passengers sent to destination (NDB) by Buses.15 buses have been arranged for passengers of  13426," it added.
