On Monday, Lalu Prasad appeared to apologise for his son Tej Pratap Yavav’s comment about skinning PM Modi even as he attacked the PM for downgrading his security. Meanwhile, a BJP MP filed a case against Tej Pratap Yadav at Delhi police station.

He was quoted saying by ANI: “If a son comes to know that his father is being conspired against, his security is being revoked, he will react. I don't approve of this. I have spoken to him to not speak anything like that again.”

Attacking Modi, he said: “If Narendra Modi thinks I will be scared, I won't. All the people, even the children of Bihar will protect me.”

He also tweeted saying: “Modi listen, Lalu is not a man who gets scared. Go and scare someone else, like u scared Nitish. Bihar’s 11crore people and children will protect me.”

He further tweeted: “PM Modi doesn’t want me to go or come, there can be an attack on me anywhere. When I was Rail Minister and went to Gujarat, Modi was CM. At that time, my car was attacked. Just hearing that I will go to Gujarat, they cut my security detail. How is someone so scared of Lalu?”

Meanwhile, BJP MP Parvesh Verma filed a complaint against Tej Pratap Yadav in Delhi's Parliament Street Police Station.

Hitting out at the comment, DC Yadav, Bihar Disaster Management minister said that Tej Pratap was ‘mentally unstable’. He said: “Only a person who is mentally unstable will make such statements, a politically sane person will never speak those things. Lalu Ji also said things in the past but never crossed lines like this.”

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi on Monday said Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's son and former state cabinet minister Tej Pratap Yadav would be taught a lesson by the public for his threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"He can use language of his choice. But those who use this kind of foul language are taught a lesson by the countrymen," Modi told ANI.

Earlier in the day, Tej Pratap alleged the Centre was conspiring to get his father killed and that, to this end, he would get Prime Minister Modi "skinned".

Tej Pratap's remark came in the wake of the Centre’s decision to completely withdraw the NSG (National Security Guard) security cover provided to Lalu Yadav. His Z-Plus security category has also been downgraded to 'Z' category.

‘Despite that (security downgrade), our programmes are continuing and Lalu Yadav is addressing rallies. However, this is a conspiracy to get him (Lalu) murdered, but we will give a befitting reply to them (the Centre). We will get Narendra Modi skinned (Hum Narendra Modi ki khaal udedhva denge); go and tell him,’ Tej Pratap said.

Sushil Modi further said that Lalu Prasad shouldn't be scared of anyone as people were more scared of him.

‘Who is Laluji scared of’ Why does he need the security’ This was a status symbol for him. But now the entire Bihar is scared of him and his foul play," he said.

The Centre has withdrawn RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's 'Z+' VIP security cover of NSG commandos after a recent review of the threat to various protectees, official sources said today.

The former Bihar chief minister will now be given 'Z' category security and be guarded by an armed commando squad of the Central Reserve Police Force, in accordance with the protocol of the scaled down cover, the sources said.

Yadav will not have National Security Guard black cat commandos guarding him any more. The NSG only provides 'Z+' security cover.

The decision was taken after the Union home ministry recently reviewed the threat levels of various VIP protectees, the sources said.

The 'Z+' CRPF VIP security cover of former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has been withdrawn completely. He will have state police cover now.

The 'Z' cover of Union minister Haribhai P Chaudhary has also been scaled down to 'Y+', entailing less manpower and other paraphernalia, they said.

The minister of state for coal and mines was accorded the larger security cover of central security forces commandos when he was minister of state for home.
