Jain temple robbery: Ten idols among stolen valuables

Ten idols and other valuables were allegedly stolen by unidentified men from a Jain temple at Sikhorpur village in Gurgaon, police said on Tuesday.

The wall of Sidhant Tirth Kshetra, a cluster of temples, at Sikhorpur village was broken by unidentified men today morning who then fled away with 10 Jain idols including one silver idol of Adinath Bhagwan, another silver idol of Parasnath Bhagwan along with gold and silver valuables and cash, DCP (South) Saurabh Singh said.

The culprits then broke the exhaust fan of Dhyan Kendra temple, one of the temples of the cluster and entered its premises as they were unable to dismantle the iron gate of the temple, he said. Gates of another temple located in the premises were also borken and one garland made of precious stones was also stolen from there, police said.

The monetary value of the loss has not been ascertained so far, they said.

An SIT team headed by ACP (Crime) Devender Singh including two police inspectors and cyber experts, has been formed to probe the incident, Gurgoan Police Commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk said. A reward of Rs 1 lakh has been announced for providing any information about the culprits, he added.
