An infant survived a fall on the tracks through the toilet opening moments after his mother delivered him inside a train toilet on Sunday. West Bengal resident Chandana Saha, in the final stages of labour, was travelling in the 50104 Ratnagiri-Dadar passenger train when the incident occurred near Kasu station, about 177 km away from CST.

"Chandana delivered the baby in the washroom of the train, who fell through the opening of the toilet and onto the tracks. Passengers in the coach KRSWR-99640 pulled the alarm chain and stopped the train," said a railway official.

The baby was rescued by Mayur Tayade, a RPF constable, who walked on to the tracks. "Tayade called an ambulance and both were taken to Gadap Civil Hospital near Kasu," said an RPF officer.
