New custom regulations at the Jaipur International Airport will be implemented from March 1. As per the new regulations the Indian citizens will not have to give details to immigration authorities on returning from abroad. From March onwards the passengers arriving at the Jaipur Airport will not have to submit details to the immigration counter and the customs department as single form would be required to be filled and submitted to only the customs department. The new form would be containing additional columns for declaration of dutiable and prohibited goods.

As per the new rules the passengers would have to submit the detailed report about their baggage and declare that they have no prohibited articles.

However, once the new regulations are put into force, the process of declaration of goods will become difficult for the flyers. They would have to submit details of their last foreign tour and about the jewellery and bullion that they have brought along with them.

In the new declaration form the passengers will have to give details about any prohibited articles like gold jewellery, gold bullion and currency more than Rs7,500.

Deputy Commissioner of the Customs Department at Jaipur International Airport HS Meena said, “Earlier these new regulations were to be implement from January 1 but because of unknown reasons, these regulations are now proposed to be implement from March 1. It will help us in checking customs duty frauds and keep a record of gold jewellery and bullions being brought in the country.”

Earlier these regulations were to be implemented from January 1 across the country at all International airports, including Jaipur but due to lack of proper preparation, date of implementation of rules has been now set for March.

Meena added, “There is a drastic change in the declaration form and now a passenger will have to submit details of the countries he had visited in the past six days. The passport number should also be filled up in the form and if a passenger tries to fill up ‘fraud’ details then these could be verified from his passport.”

The passengers will also have to give details of baggage being carried by them in a separate column, instead of number of hand baggage. Once the new rules come into force, the hand baggage would be checked in separately on arrival, added Meena.
