Preliminary investigations into the Gurdaspur terror strike indicate that the three suspected Lashker-e-Taiba militants had entered the country through Bamiyal village in Pathankot, located close to the international border.

The suspected terrorists are believed to have crossed over from Shakargarh in Pakistan to Bamiyal village and later traveled to Parmanand village, official sources said. The terrorists tried to stop a tempo traveler and later hijacked a car to reach Dina Nagar police post.

It was not immediately known as to how they reached Parmanand village of Gurdaspur, which is 26 kilometres from Bamiyal village, they said. The investigators are pinning their hope on seized Global Positioning System (GPS), a compass used by travelers to reach their destinations. The GPS has been sent for forensic examination.
