Engineering student in Kolkata commits suicide after recruitment test by Microsoft

A 22 year old engineering student of Jadavpur university commited suicide in his hostel room after writing an online recuritment test for Microsoft as a part of the college' placement procedure. This was the second big placement in the campus, with a prospective salary of Rs 17 lakh, after he could not clear the final round of placement for Amazon.

The Telegraph reported, that Manish Ranjan belonged to the Siwan district of Bihar, and was a very good student. His friend had cleared the Amazon placements. Manish, ironically cleared the entrance exam of Microsoft, news that came too late for him.

He hung himself from the fan in his hostel room, but did not leave a suicide note.

Though the job scenario and the pressure of placement could be the trigger but not the main cause for the suicide.
