BJP said that while Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal's challenge of a public debate had been accepted by their chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi, the city had been witnessing many such deliberations via television channels.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said the February 7 assembly elections in Delhi were a matter of 'debate, drama, democracy and delivery', and added that while Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal's challenge of a public debate had been accepted by their chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi, the city had been witnessing many such deliberations via television channels.
"In Delhi, it is all about the 'd': debate, drama, democracy and delivery. It depends on what the party stands for. Arvind Kejriwal stands for drama and debate. We stand for democracy and delivery. That is what Kiran ji has said – come, let us go to the assembly, let us provide a stable government and then debate for the people. Let us deliver towards the people," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told ANI.
"A debate has been happening for the past two years: we have been debating on television channels. The people of Delhi must get what they deserve: to be delivered the best," he added. Patra was also critical of the AAP chief's request to Bedi to unblock him on twitter, stating that the polls will be fought on the ground, not on social media.

"Kejriwal has requested Kiran Bedi to unblock him. Why didn't he say the full truth: that Kiran ji had blocked him approximately a year and a half ago? When Kejriwal indulged in politics of anarchism, Kiran ji had blocked him. Why did he not request her to unblock him then?" he asked.
"The election is being fought on the ground. How long must we be playing this twitter game? Social media is a very powerful tool and the BJP recognises this but you do not fight the elections only on twitter," he added.
Earlier, Kejriwal had invited Bedi for a public debate, after congratulating her for being nominated as the BJP's chief ministerial candidate for the Delhi polls. He also requested Bedi to unblock him from her Twitter account. Both Kejriwal and Bedi were part of the anti-corruption movement led by activist Anna Hazare before the AAP chief decided to form his own political party.
Bedi was named as BJP's chief ministerial candidate on Monday night and will be fielded from Krishna Nagar seat in Delhi while Kejriwal will contest Delhi from the New Delhi constituency. The elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held in a single phase on February 7, with the counting of votes set to take place on February 10.
