List of candidates for 87 seats of the first phase of elections is expected by late evening Thursday or on Friday.

BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) will meet on Thursday to take a final call on selection of candidates for state assembly elections slated for December 13 and 17, 2012. Gujarat leaders of the party will attend the meeting, to be held in New Delhi. List of candidates for 87 seats of the first phase of elections is expected by late evening Thursday or on Friday.

CM Narendra Modi, BJP’s national vice-president Parshottam Rupala, Gujarat BJP chief RC Faldu and organisation general secretary Bhikhubhai Dalsania will be attending the meeting. Joint general secretary of party’s national organisation, V Satish will also remain present.

The saffron party had started selection process of candidates about one-and-half months back with their election observers meeting potential candidates and their supporters in every constituency.

It’s believed that party has prepared list of three candidates and has asked panelists to get their documents ready so that anyone of them can file nomination at any point of time.
