A war of words erupted between the BJP and Congress over Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy on the occasion of his birth anniversary on Tuesday.

In Gandhinagar, chief minister Vijay Rupani said that the country’s situation would have been different had Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel become the prime minister.

“Sardar Patel tried to take the country in the right direction, but the Congress meted out injustice to him. It is unfortunate that politics is being played in Sardar Patel’s name,” Rupani said after offering floral tributes to Sardar Patel.
In Ahmedabad, former chief minister Anandiben Patel said that Sardar Patel did not get his due because of the Nehru-Gandhi family.

Senior Congress MLA Shaktisinh Gohil said, “Some dwarfs are using the Iron Man of India’s name for political gains. If Sardar Saheb had been meted out injustice, as the BJP leaders claim, he would have not shied away from taking on the Congress.”
