Attack on cops by MLA; CCB intensifies probe

The CCB police, who are investigating the case in which Hungund Congress MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar, his associate Some Gowda alias Somashekhar Gowda and others had allegedly assaulted two policemen at Skyye bar in the wee hours of Wednesday, examined the spot on Sunday.

Police sources said that a police team went to the spot around 11 am and questioned the staff and security guards in connection with the incident. Also, the police team also took into its possession the CCTV cameras and digital video recorder installed in the bar.

"After the incident, only the CCTV cameras at the cash counter was recovered. On Sunday, footage recorded by camaras installed at all floors of the building has been taken for verification. We are also verifying the video recorded by constable Kiran Kumar, who was allegedly assaulted, in his mobile phone," sources said.

Meanwhile, the CCB sleuths are yet to question the MLA in connection with the incident. "No decision has been taken so far on arresting him or issuing a notice to him. We will decide the further course of action once the court passes its order on his anticipatory bail petition," the source added.

Speaking to media on Sunday morning, MLA Kashappanavar said that he was not yet summoned by the police for questioning. Later, he left to Tumkur saying that he was going to visit his friend's ailing mother.
