As BJP banks on its top leaders to counter Arvind Kejriwal's relentless offensive, AAP too is unleashing its star power, for the February 7 election. Some of its biggest, and decidedly most glamorous names have stepped out to campaign for AAP's various candidates.

Thursday afternoon saw actress Gul Panag hold a bike rally in Sadar Bazar constituency's Shastri Nagar. Panag's legion of besotted fans were AAP's tongue in cheek reply to Ajay Maken's campaign, who is strongest candidate for Congress.

AAP leader Somdutt Sharma and MLA from Sardar Bazar arrived three hours late for the rally, but that did not deter the crowd to be part of rally, where Panag was to ride Royal Enfield Thunderbird. So enthusiastic were the lot mobbing her that it was hard to tell who was an AAP supporter and who a fan boy. Panag herself expressed initial trepidation about riding a bike in such a crowd, but then gamely put her helmet on.

Singer-composer Vishal Dadlani and Roadies anchor Raghu are capitalising on their popularity with the youth, pulling in the numbers at rallies and Jan sabhas of other candidates. Dadlani's jingle for AAP "Paanch saal Kejriwal" can already be heard all over the city via autos with affixed loudspeakers whizzing by gleefully. Dadlani has taken on streets singing his biggest hits, to get people to follow him to AAP's sabha. Wednesday saw him performing in Connaught Place along with Raghu and later at Kalkaji. Dadlani's performance drew big numbers to AAP bigwig Manish Sisodia's Patparganj rally on Thursday.

But the real star of Wednesday's show was Bhagwant Mann, AAP's MP from Singrur Punjab and stand up comedian. Through jokes, folk tales and witty couplets Mann systematically took apart the BJP and Bedi's campaign in Delhi. Giving power to the people he stressed on how their vote could topple the most powerful of regimes. If laughter is one's most effective weapon, then Mann has that pat down. Such was his appeal that people waited patiently for two hours in the cold for him to show up, not budging from their seats in fear of missing out on their icon.

Meanwhile, BJP's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi on Thursday claimed to have lost her voice and was seen campaigning via sign language.
