Being happy, loving your form of exercise is the way to go

For me, being fit and working out is a way of life. Our profession entitles us to work, shoot, and be in front of the camera for long hours, which is absolutely exhausting. The only way I rejuvenate myself to take on the next day, is through a good workout, along with my regular dance routine.

My fitness regime comprises mainly of a good dance routine, and since I am a dancer, this also includes my exercise regime, and a couple of breathing exercises I do first thing in the morning. Being physically fit is one thing, but being mentally fit and prepared as well as calm and composed for a long day of shoot and rehearsals is much needed. Breathing exercises and yoga pranayams really prepare me for the long day ahead. I do some cardio and stretching also and I am not much keen about weight lifting. I balance both out according to what I have worked on the previous day.

Diet:

My day begins with a glass of warm water; only after this do I eat or drink something.
Breakfast is usually heavy, such as an omelet, brown bread toast and a glass of milk.
Lunch is always a light meal. Yellow daal is a must, along with a green vegetable and 3 rotis.
Then through out the day I munch on some chocolates, dry fruits and chana.
My dinner again is simple. A dsal, subzi and 2 rotis, which I alternate with rice at times.

Working out tips:

With experience, I feel that working out at a gym isn't the only way of getting fit.Yes, cardio is always available at the gym, but there are other forms of doing cardio, like dance and even outdoor activities. I love like cycling, skipping, playing a good game of cricket, swimming and running or jogging outdoors. Dance too is a rejuvenating way of keeping fit as well as a good exercise form. And again, keeping mentally fit is another very important aspect, and for that, just be happy, keep doing the things you love, and most importantly, meditate and do some yoga as well to keep yourself calm and composed. Overall though, the main aspect of keeping fit is motivation! Keep motivating yourself to strive for the best in you, and that is when you will see the best of you!
