Open Road Film released a bone-chilling trailer for Snowden, a film based on the events that led up to whistleblower Edward Snowden exposing illegal surveillance activities being carried out by the National Security Agency in the US.
Director Oliver Stone brings to the screen the story of how Snowden pulled off leaking NSA's classified intelligence in this political thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Snowden and Shailene Woodley as his girlfriend Lindsay Mills. The film's cast also includes Nicholas Cage, Zachary Quinto and Tom Wilkinson.
The trailer gives us a look at the heart-stopping moment Snowden sneaks out the data on an SD card hidden in a Rubik's cube.
Following the revelations made public by Snowden in 2013, he became one of the most wanted men in the world. He fled the US and is currently living in an undisclosed location in Russia. While some have dubbed Snowden a hero, others have called him a traitor for his actions.
Snowden was quick to react to the trailer's release.
For two minutes and thirty nine seconds, everybody at NSA just stopped working. https://t.co/OLjCV6wkGp
