The poor attendance record of celebrity Members of Parliament, veteran actress Rekha and former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is grabbing the eyeballs. Kirron Kher, who's the BJP MP from Chandigarh has reacted on the issue and said that if Sachin and Rekha have accepted to be the MPs, then it's their duty to attend the Parliament and participate in the debates, reports Times Now.

While speaking to the news channel, when asked if Sachin and Rekha should have accepted the post of the MP of Rajya Sabha considering that they do not have ample time to attend the House, Kher said that both Rekha and Sachin should have decided before taking up the position.

The channel quoted Kher as saying, "It is a life-changing decision to decide to become a Member of Parliament. You must think about it before making the change. After I won, I shifted to Chandigarh. I don’t live in Mumbai. I have to work in my constituency. I have to run to ministries. It is a privilege to attend the Parliament. How many people get this privilege? It is important that Rekha and Sachin come to Parliament and take part in discussion. Either you don’t accept it. If you have accepted it, you have to be present there."

Reportedly, Kher further added that both the celebs are currently not at the peak of their career in their respective fields and so they could have easily spared some time to attenf the House and do something for the betterment of sports and movies.

While Kirron Kher has managed to keep 86% attendance in the Parliament, participated in 28 debates and asked 157 questions, since she became a member, Sachin's attendence in the last 5 years in only 8% and Rekha's is only 5%. While Sachin has missed all the 12 meetings of the  standing committee that he is a part of, Rekha has not participated in a single debate and hasn't asked any questions in the past 5 years, added the report.
