Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari hit the screens on Holi. Due to the festival, the movie received a huge boost on day one. It has recorded the highest opening day of 2019. The movie has collected Rs. 21.50 crore, which is just Rs. 3 crore lesser from Akshay's last release Gold's opening day.
Kesari, a historical drama based on the true story of the Battle of Saragarhi fought between 21 courageous Sikhs and 10,000 invaders in the year 1897, started on a slower note in the morning. Many malls were shut due to the festival of Holi, however the film picked up huge numbers by evening. Surprisingly a report on Box Office India suggests that the movie, despite appealing to just the North Indian audiences, did well even in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.
