With International Women's Day round the corner, Bollywood actress Kajol on Monday urged women not to ignore their health and look after their well-being.

Kajol and anchor-cum-actress Mandira Bedi have come forward to support an initiative about the well being of women. They attended the "Women Wellness - Through The Ages", a special wellness forum organised by Hinduja Healthcare Surgical in suburban Khar.

Kajol addressed over 500 city women who registered and turned up for the forum with top doctors.

"Once a woman attains motherhood, there is no time to fall sick. I am phobic of falling sick and often pop in a medicine to prevent any further damage," Kajol said on the occasion.

The 41-year-old said that women are often negligent when it comes to looking after their health.

"This ignorance often leads to critical health concerns at a later stage, which can really be prevented. Now the time has come that we do take care of ourselves in a guilt-free way," she said.

The actress thinks that regular health check-ups are must to prevent breast cancer as they can detect it at the early stage and help plan necessary treatment.

"Women's wellness should be taken seriously. I believe we can treat breast cancer and can eradicate it completely. The best way to do it is to get check-ups done and prevent it before it actually harms you. We have a chance to bring down the statistics (of diseases) and make them null and void by taking ourselves seriously by giving ourselves the care we give others," she added.

Echoing her views, Mandira said, "as mothers we put our children before ourselves and thus to take care of them we need to take care of ourselves".
