Aishwarya speaks to dna about her book on growing up in a celebrity household, being Dhanush's wife and her life as a director. She plans to release the book on her dad's birthday, December 12, this year.
Aishwarya Dhanush is a director by her own right. She's also the daughter of Superstar Rajinikanth and the wife of the uber talented star Dhanush. After having forayed into Kollywood as a director and now working on a documentary on stuntmen in the film industry, Aishwarya has now penned a book to be published by Harper Collins. She talks to dna about what the book is all about.
While many celebs having taken to writing columns in newspapers, Aishwarya has gone the book route. However, the book is not a complete autobiography nor fiction - one could call it more semi-autobiographical, she says. Titled Standing On An Apple Box, the book is very personal to Aishwarya. Ask her how she moved from films to authoring a book and Aishwarya explains, "I have always loved writing and I used to pen down my thoughts, little stories and poems growing up. It's like keeping a diary. When I was chatting with a few friends and shared some of this with them, they suggested that I get it published. I then shared this with Harper Collins because I think they're the best publishers in the country and the book just happened."
The book will be a collection of her stories growing up as the daughter of Superstar Rajinikanth, then becoming a wife and mother. "It's the journey from being a daughter to being a mother. People will think being the daughter of a celebrity is a very different life but surprisingly, we lead a very normal life and that's what people will realise when they read my short stories. Today, I have two kids of my own and I talk about the challenges of being a celebrity wife, mom and my kids too. I have written things from a woman's perspective," says Aishwarya.
So how much of Rajinikanth will we get to know in the book? "Appa is a huge part of my life and he will always be an important part of it." she says.
Currently, Aishwarya is working on the book and plans to release it on her dad's birthday, December 12, this year. She is quite excited about this new project and one thing is certain - we are sure to get a glimpse into how the Superstar is, as a father and grandfather!
