Bollywood's golden girl Deepika Padukone is on cloud nine. And that's not just about delivering back-to-back hits.
The actress, who turned 28 on Sunday, was spotted spending the special day with her 'special' friend and Ramleela co-actor Ranveer Singh in New York.
An onlooker spotted the duo and snapped them chilling together. While a happy Ranveer obliged this fan with a photo op, Deepika shied away from being snapped.
While rumours mills are working overtime with things hotting up between Deepika and Ranveer, the actors have been in constant denial. But the choice of the holiday destination by the 'couple' apparently says a lot.
In an interview with the Times of India last year, Ranveer on taking his girlfriend on an impromptu date had said, "To New York for a holiday and I think we will not run out of things to do together... things to watch, places to visit, places to eat. There is lots that New York has to offer. I have never done it, but I intend to, the next time I want to whisk someone away."
Too much coincidence here. Isn't it?
However, this incident reminds us of a not-so-pleasant case of celebrity hounding when Deepika's ex-flame Ranbir Kapoor and his current girlfriend Katrina Kaif were spotted holidaying on a beach in Ibizza.
The pictures of Ranbir and a bikini-clad Katrina, leaked by an over-enthusiastic fan, were lapped up by the media all over upsetting Katrina no end.
Interestingly, back then when Deepika was asked to comment on the incident in an interview, the actress had minced no words and had some stern words for the sulking Katrina, "It has never happened with me. I believe if you are a celebrity or public figure… these things are bound to happen. And I don’t think you can accuse anybody of anything. If I am a public figure and if someone has captured me then I feel I should have been a little careful.”
While Deepika's unsolicited advice had not gone down well with Katrina, we wonder what the Dhoom 3 girl has to say to Deepika's latest outing.
Time to get even Kat?
Meanwhile, a photo of another celebrity couple - Uday Chopra and Nargis Fakhri - holidaying together was also leaked recently. Uday, who shares his birthday with Deepika, was snapped with Nargis, enjoying a vacation in Maldives.
The duo has also maintained the 'we are just good friends' stand.
