The Delhi Police arrested two men on Tuesday for duping dozens of youths on the pretext of getting them jobs at the Delhi airport.

The accused were identified as Kamal Arora and his accomplice Anshul Mishra. Arora was earlier employed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), while Mishra used to work at a consultancy firm that provided employment to people with companies at the airport.

Posing as airport officials, the two would approach people looking for jobs by sending them messages on phone. They would then call them to the airport itself to conduct inetrviews. They even gave offer letters to some of the victims. But before that, the victims were asked to give them a particular amount of money in exchange of the job.

The racket came to light last week, when Suneel, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, filed a police complaint, alleging that a person from Gurugram took Rs 80,000 from him on the pretext of getting him a job with Air India (AI), and then disappeared.

"In the complaint, Suneel said after the interview, Arora demanded Rs 1.5 lakh from him. Suneel gave him Rs 80,000, on the assurance that he would give the rest after getting the offer letter. The accused and his accomplice then took him around the airport, and asked him to come to Terminal 3 the next day to get his offer letter. The accused then stopped responding to Suneel's phone calls," a senior police officer said.

After the two were identified on the basis of CCTV footage from the airport, the Crime and Intelligence Wing of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) detained them, a senior CISF officer said. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police personnel also reached the spot and took custody of them.

"Arora and his associate were arrested in a raid by a team led by Satish Malik, SHO, IGI. They have confessed to the crime and their phone records and other details are being checked. It is suspected that they targeted more than a dozen people," DCP, IGI, Sanjay Bhatia said
