While five cars were saved with minor damages, Atamprakash's 3-year-old Nissan Sunny was turned into ashes along with a Maruti Ertiga of another resident of the colony.

Although, the insurance policy may come to his rescue but he still fears that if the company fails to pay, it would be impossible for him get the money or the car.

"I had to travel from Haryana's Hisar just to fulfill the insurance paper formalities and even then we don't know if we would get the claim and how much," says Atamprakash, who retired from Haryana roadways as an employee three years ago.

Atamprakash's son Bharat owns a garment shop in Pitampura area and had shifted to Delhi just three years ago. He along with his wife and two children were asleep when he heard loud sirens, and on checking, he found his car along with six others on fire.

"Initially, I thought one car would have caught fire but it was 7 cars. The CCTV footage showed the man setting a car on car, we don't know if he had issues with someone or it was just a mischievous act," said Bharat.

The CCTV footage had shown a youth setting a car on fire, however, the cars parked next to it also caught fire immediately.
