India got off to a poor start against Sri Lanka in the series-deciding third ODI against Sri Lanka on Sunday.

The visitors took control thanks to some positive stroke-play after Rohit Sharma won the toss and put them in to bat in Visakhapatnam.

Upul Tharanga seemed in ominous form as he smashed Hardik Pandya for five boundaries in one over. Although Jasprit Bumrah got India an early breakthrough by removing Danushka Gunathilaka, it was the Lankans who took the ascendency from there on. They reached 100 for one at the first drinks break after 17 overs.

The Indians could have been in a better position and had another wicket if only one of their most trusted lieutenant hadn't failed them.

In the 14th over, Kuldeep Yadav wrapped Sadeera Samarawickrama on the pads. The hosts went up in appeal, but the umpires finger stayed down. As expected, everyone looked at Mahendra Singh Dhoni to decide whether or not to go for a review.

The Decision Review System (DRS) is often called the Dhoni Review System. That's because the former India captain has an uncanny knack of always getting it right in terms of reviews.

But as it tuned out on Sunday, Dhoni got one wrong. He didn't ask for a review at that time and DRS later suggested that the umpire's decision was wrong. Samarawickrama was, in fact, out.

Both the sides made one change each from their playing eleven in the second ODI at Mohali.

For India, Washington Sundar is not well and Kuldeep Yadav has been named in his place. For Sri Lanka, Sadeera Samarawickrama has made it to the team in place of Lahiru Thirimanne.
