MS Dhoni remained unbeaten on 55 off 54 balls during India's successful chase of 299 in the second One-Day International (ODI) against Australia on Tuesday.

Apart from Dhoni's match-winning knock, which was his second fifty in two games in 2019, the former Indian captain landed in the news for a wrong reason.

A footage on social media went viral which suggested that Dhoni failed to complete one of his singles but that went unnoticed by the umpires and the opponents.

The incident took place in the 45th over which was bowled by Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon. The umpire did not notice that, called the end of the over and the run was added to Dhoni and India's scoreboard.

From there, India needed 44 off 30 balls so Dhoni's dismissal could have sent the result either way. For sure, Aussies had missed a golden chance there.

However, Dhoni at that moment looked completely exhausted and was also suffering from cramps. So, one could believe that Dhoni himself would not have realised his mistake. Dhoni was even spotted lying down flat on the ground and looked in some discomfort.

The temperature in Adelaide was soaring during the match and players looked tired with Dhoni being no exception.

“I think it was a very hot day, everybody tries to have as many liquids as we could but he was still going through a lot of cramps,” Dinesh Karthik, who was Dhoni's batting partner then, said in the post-match conference.
