Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the chiefs of public sector banks on September 27. The interaction, where Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will also be present will be done via PRAGATI. 

The Pro-Active Governance And Timely Implementation (PRAGATI) is an interactive platform that has been launched by PM Modi. The platform is aimed at addressing common man’s grievances, and simultaneously monitoring and reviewing important programmes and projects of the Government of India as well as projects flagged by state governments. 

Media reports suggest that PM Modi could talk discuss the credit growth issue with the PSU banks bosses. He could also talk about the start up India programme in the meeting. 

Meanwhile, today the Prime Minster is expected to announce big welfare schemes in relation to the stimulus package

After the slowdown in economy, the government, in its damage control mode has been reportedly mulling over a plan to change its fiscal deficit target, in order to spend up to Rs 50,000 crore ($7.7 billion) to save the economy form a slowdown.

Growth in Asia's third-largest economy slowed to a three-year low of 5.7% in the June quarter, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the government was looking for ways to rejuvenate it.
