Telecom companies to offer cashbacks of up to Rs 1,500 on purchase of Galaxy J series phones
Bharti Airtel and Vodafone on Thursday announced separate partnerships with mobile handset maker Samsung to offer affordable 4G smartphones to their users.
For Airtel users, four models from Samsung's Galaxy J-series range – J2 (2017), J5 Prime, J7 Prime, and J7 Pro - will be available with attractive cashback offers, bringing down the effective price of the device. All devices will come bundled with Airtel's special recharge pack of Rs 199 that offers 1GB data per day and unlimited calling, the company said in a statement.
The cashback of Rs 1,500 will be disbursed to customers over 24 months. At the end of 12 months, customers who have done recharges (in any denomination of their choice) worth Rs 2,500 will be eligible for the first installment of Rs 300. They will be eligible for the second installment of Rs 1,200 provided they complete another set of recharges worth Rs 2,500 over the next 12 months, Airtel said. The offer is available across India starting January 7, 2018.
For Vodafone customers, they can buy Samsung 4G smartphones - Galaxy J2 Pro, Galaxy J7 Nxt or Galaxy J7 Max to enjoy the cash back offer of Rs 1,500.
To avail this special offer, prepaid customers have to recharge with Rs 198 per month for 24 months, which would give them unlimited voice calls and 1GB data per day (the customer can also do any other recharge totalling Rs 198 per month). Post-paid customers would need to opt into any one of Vodafone's Red Plans.
At the end of the first 12 months, users will receive a cashback of Rs 600 and after another 12 months, a cashback of Rs 900, respectively, thus availing a total cashback of Rs 1,500. The cash back will be credited to their Vodafone M-Pesa wallets. The offer will be launched across different locations, later this month.
"Today, every third smartphone sold in India is a Galaxy J series device. These smartphones are packed with several India-centric innovations developed at our R&D centres in the country under the Samsung 'Make for India' initiative," said Ranjivjit Singh, chief marketing officer, Samsung India.
