Woman raped, culprits flee with gold in Bangalore

A 38-year-old-woman, residing alone in the city, was allegedly raped by three men in Nayandahalli on Sunday night. After raping, the men,  aged about 20-25, fled with the victim’s gold mangalya chain, another gold chain weighing 30 gm, and Rs4,500 in cash.

The incident happened around 11.45 pm on Sunday when the woman was returning home after a visit to KM Doddi where her husband and two sons reside. The woman stays in a rented a house in Ramachandra Colony in Nayandahalli. Her husband Prakash is a tailor in KM Doddi.

The woman in her complaint with Chandra Layout police stated that the men initially wanted to snatch gold jewellery from her, but changed their mind and forcefully took her to a grove near Ganesh Temple where she was raped. The men fled the spot around 1.30 am on Sunday.

Police believe that the culprits might have changed their mind as the woman was good looking. They said the woman did not make noise or shout for help even if the incident occurred 5 metres away from the road.

The woman was subjected to medical test at Vani Villas Hospital. Preliminary results suggested she was raped. Police is yet to receive the full medical report.
