Two traffic policemen caned, thrashed and verbally abused a minor son of a magistrate on charges of jaywalking at the city railway station premises on Wednesday.

According to railway police, SA Akshay, 17, a first semester engineering student in a private college at Nelamangala and son of S Shobha, XII additional chief metropolitan magistrate, came to the city on the occasion of the Ganesha festival on Wednesday.
After getting down at the City Railway station Akshay started walking towards the auto rickshaw stand from platform No. 10.

When he was about to reach the auto stand, two traffic policemen confronted him, pulled him aside and verbally abused him.
Akshay tried to explain that he was in a hurry, but the cops took objection to it and started caning him. Adding salt to injury, a few auto drivers joined the cops and beat him up. As he cried for help, Akshay told the cops that he is the son of a magistrate. But the policemen continued to kick and slap him while passers-by looked on helplessly.

When the cops left after the attack, the bruised and battered Akshay managed to reach home at the judicial layout in Koramangala and later got admitted to a hospital for treatment. After recovering from injuries, Akshay on Thursday filed a complaint with the city railway police station, who registered a case against the cops and unidentified auto drivers.

Later, the case was transferred to the jurisdictional Cottonpet police, since the incident occurred outside the railway platform. The Cottonpet police said they are yet to take action against the accused as the case has not fully transferred to them.

“We will take action once we receive all the documents regarding the case registered with the City Railway police station,” a police officer said.
