The long wait of Bangaloreans to catch a glimpse of the Metro coach is coming to an end. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is setting the stage for unveiling a replica of the coach at Anil Kumble Circle on MG Road.

“Public would be given an opportunity to photograph themselves in front of the replica. We are creating an ambience by decorating the area with flower pots and a small lawn for photo shoots,” said a source from  BMRCL.

Ramps would be created to enter the coach from the rear. Two of the eight doors would be open for the public.

As the front cab is separated from the main coach, arrangements are being made to view the driver’s seat of the metro coach.

Barricades would be put on the road side, so that entry and exit would be defined at one particular point itself.

“We are also placing a metal sheet on top of the spot for shelter from rain. The model of the coach will be ready by Sunday, but the date has not been fixed for unveiling it. The replica will be kept for almost six months until the metro starts its operations,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the traffic congestion in east Bangalore would be eased with the completion of the first phase of the Metro, additional commissioner of police (traffic) Praveen Sood said on Wednesday.

“As the first reach of Metro work is completed, the traffic situation in eastern Bangalore is expected to improve with the opening of CMH Road, MG Road and SV Road,” he said.

The traffic situation would improve on RV Road and KR Road where ground work for metro stations would be completed by November 2010.

The police officer also said the opening of grade separator at Iblur, near Sarjapur Road, by month-end would provide relief to motorists using the Outer Ring Road.

Similarly, opening of the Peenya elevated road by August-end, would ease the traffic on Tumkur Road.

Sood said the traffic flow would be smoother in JP Nagar and Uttarahalli area by this month-end.
