Challenging Star Darshan is back in Parappana Agrahara jail. And guess who his cellmates are? None other than the Katta Jagadish. The actor was brought to the jail after being discharged from the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases on Wednesday afternoon.

“At 1.30pm, Darshan was brought here by the City Armed Reserve [CAR] police. He was taken into custody as soon as he entered the jail premises,” said chief-superintendent of prison, TH Lakshminarayana.

The actor, who is facing a number of charges for abusing his wife and child, was taken to the cell number 4, D-Block—the newly constructed VIP high-security wing which has two police officer on night duty and frequented by the superintendent of police (prison). There are already two prisoners in the cell: former IT & BT minister Katta Subramanya Naidu’s son Katta Jagadish and Itasca MD, SV Srinivas. The actor has joined the duo, while Naidu continues to be in Victoria Hospital.

Qaidi No 8993
Though the style-icon was given the custom-made prison clothes with number 8993 printed on it, he did not wear them till late in the night, sources said.

Darshan was subjected to medical tests by the prison hospital doctors and they found him to be perfectly normal. There were many visitors, but Darshan refused to meet anyone.
Only his brother Dinakar and relative Srinivas met Darshan and had a long chat, Lakshminarayana said.

There is no special food prescribed by the doctors, so he was served regular jail food. Sources said the actor had brought home-cooked food and he shared it with cellmates Katta Jagadish and Srinivas.

However, Lakshminarayana said: “We allow home-cooked food only when the prisoner submits an application. But till now, we have not received it. The bed, blanket and pillows were brought by Darshan’s family members.”

He also brought along medicines, hence extra medicine was not given by jail authorities.

Raagi balls, chapati, rice and sambhar was served to all prisoners in their cell at 6pm, but Darshan did not take it.
