More people are opting for top-notch apartments on the outskirts. But there are drawbacks. Take the case of problems being faced by residents of Sobha Apartments, Thalaghattapura. With the apartment complex situated 1.5km away from the main road, it’s a tough task for residents to find public transport.

They want the builder and government to ensure more frequency of BMTC buses to the area. When DNA visited the deserted road located off Kanakapura Road, near Nice Road, the problem was not restricted to just public transport.

The 1.5km-long walk means even procuring medicines and groceries becomes a herculean task. Since the locality is underdeveloped, the chances of buses plying on this route are remote. And even if buses do come to the area, the road is narrow and has roadblocks. Also, streetlights are non-existent along this stretch.

A resident of Sobha Apartment said: “I raised this issue at the RWA meet and a few people who wanted public transport supported me but the RWA president expressed helplessness.”
