The Lok Ayukta special court on Saturday directed the Lok Ayukta superintendent of police, Bangalore Urban, to investigate a complaint against BJP MLA CT Ravi, alleging that he had indulged in grabbing government land. The court directed the Lok Ayukta police to file a report by January 18, 2012.

R Devi Prasad, a city municipal councillor, in his complaint, has alleged that Ravi used his influence and made Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) allot three civic amenities sites to Anjaneya Education Society for Rs12.09 lakh. These sites were allegedly allotted by KHB when Ravi’s wife was the board’s president and her sister was the general secretary in 2006.

The complaint stated that Ravi used fake documents to facilitate the allotment.  The complaint alleges that the society to which the sites were allocated does not exist. The sites are at Vijayapura and Chikmagalur and their market value is more than Rs5 crore. He had also allegedly misused his position as an MLA  and got two sites at Chikkamagalur allotted in his wife’s name.

Besides Ravi, 10 others have been accused in the case, including his family members and two KHB officials.

The case came up for hearing before the Lokayukta court Judge NK Sudhindra Rao. The judge directed the Lokayukta superintendent of police, Bangalore Urban, to investigate the complaint under Section 156 (3) of the CrPC and file the report on 18 January.

When the case had come up for hearing, the Judge observed: “Going through the complaint documents, (and) submission and references made by the complainant, I am of the view that investigation and filing of the report by the competent authority is necessary.”
