Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa was battling heavy odds in the numbers game on Sunday with BJP rebels determined to oust him and the governor directing the speaker not to disqualify any MLA before the floor test in the assembly.

The speaker reserved the order, but not before slamming governor HR Bhardwaj for his “directive” calling it an ‘interference’ with the discharge of his functions.
With the numbers game becoming critical for the survival of BJP’s first government in the south, the ruling party fell nine short of the magic mark of 113, if the 14 BJP rebels including the 11 who got show-cause notices from the speaker and five independents all of whom who have revolted against Yeddyurappa, do not relent.
Meanwhile, JD(S) MP HD Kumaraswamy exuded confidence that with help from the “rebel” BJP and independent MLAs, the BS Yeddyurappa government will be toppled after the trust vote on Monday.
“We have information that the government is trying its best to disqualify the MLAs. Some BJP ministers are pressurising these MLAs. But they have stood together and firmly decided to either vote against the government or abstain from voting. We have full confidence on the fall of the dirty Yeddyurappa government,” Kumaraswamy told reporters in Chennai on Sunday.
He, however, did not elaborate on how many “rebels” would vote against the Yeddyurappa government.
