The Janata Dal (Secular), which is continuously fighting against the ruling BJP government in the state on the land scam issue, has now decided to raise it in parliament.

The party also decided to produce before the public, the scandal papers at the upcoming Bhagylakshmi saree distribution meet scheduled in Ramanagara on November 22, and publicly ask the chief minister BS Yeddyurappa to step down.

Speaking to presspersons, former chief minister and JD(S) state chief HD Kumarswamy, on Wednesday said that they would raise the alleged land scams row in parliament, and charged the chief minister with favouring his family in the allotment.

He also alleged that the scams are estimated to be between Rs5,000 crore and Rs6,000 crore during Yeddyurappa’s tenure. “JD(S) would seek time in parliament to raise the issue and if time is not granted, we will stage a dharna,” Kumaraswamy said.

“BJP has raised the telecom and Adarsh scams in the parliament. Similarly, we will also raise the Karnataka chief minister’s land scams in parliament with the support of other parties.

“JD(S) has decided to take this land scam issue to logical end, for that I don’t mind being evicted from Lok Sabha. We will take back step in this fight against the corrupt and scams-hit government, he said.

“Yeddyurappa has no moral right to continue as chief minister. He should step down immediately. There is no need to conduct an investigation, as it is proved that he is directly involved. In the name of conducting an enquiry, he will escape from the battlefield,” he added.

“On November 22, Yeddyurappa is coming to Ramanagara to distribute sarees for Bhagayalakshmi beneficiaries. I will also attend the function. I will call about 50,000 of my party workers for the meeting. There, I will display the scandal papers before the chief minister and ask him to reply,” Kumaraswamy said.

On the chief minister’s announcement that an enquiry can be conducted by a retired supreme court judge into the land allotted for industrial projects and de-notification of land for the past 10 years, he said there was no need for the probe as documents prove land scam charges during the BJP tenure.

He released certain documents vis-a-vis de-notification during his tenure and said his actions were as per law and he had not shown any favour to his family members.

Kumaraswamy also demanded that all BDA sites allotted to those who already own a residential property in Bangalore be taken back by the government. “Our objection is not to Raghavendra being allotted a BDA site, but to the false affidavit (saying) that he does not own a residential property in Bangalore. This false statement could cost him Lok Sabha membership,” he claimed.

Reacting to the allegations made by the chief minister that he (Kumaraswamy) granted six acres of land for his brother Balakrishne Gowda, he said, “If the chief minister proves the allegations, I will retire from politics.”
