The police took about 100 people aboard Kannuru-Yeshwanthapur Express in custody at Mandya railway station on Wednesday evening. Members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) were travelling in the same train, going towards Mysore.

They suspected that some of their co-passengers were illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and alerted their Mandya unit.

At 8.30 pm, the Mandya branch of the ABVP reached the railway station and forced the ‘immigrants’ to get down from the train. They were handed over to the police.

Mandya railway police and law & order police are questioning the 100-odd people regarding their whereabouts.
