The high court on Thursday granted a two-week interim stay on the two bail conditions imposed on the family members of former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa by the special Lok Ayukta court in the alleged illegal land denotification scam.

While granting bail to Yeddyurappa’s sons BY Raghavendra and BY Vijayendra, and son-in-law Sohan Kumar in two private complaints on October 15, the special Lok Ayukta court had asked them to furnish statement of financial transactions from the date of incorporation of Dhavalagiri Property Developers Pvt Ltd and Adarsh Homes Pvt Ltd, certified by a qualified chartered accountant in seven days’ time.

They were also asked to produce details of their bank accounts for the past three years in seven days’ time.

The kin of Yeddyurappa had thereafter filed a petition in the high court seeking relaxation in the bail conditions, contending that a grave error was committed in directing them to submit the details of their private business transactions without considering the fact that those can be used against them as evidence in the trial. Since the documents are public records, it is the burden of the complainant to prove this by producing all the relevant material before the court.

While the special Lok Ayukta court granted conditional bail to Raghavendra, Vijayendra and Sohan, it sent Yeddyurappa to judicial custody till October 22.
