Probably it was too late in life to happen, but former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu on his first night in jail, on Monday, beat up corporator son Katta Jagadish, blaming him for having landed behind bars over the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) land scam.

The two have been housed in the same cell in 'A' Block high-security wing of the Parappanna Agrahara Central Jail in Bangalore on charges of corruption.

According to jail authorities and Naidu supporters who were witness to the incident, the former BWSSB minister, after being sent to jail along with his son, lost his cool and beat up Katta Jagadish, reportedly abusing him by saying: "Me being soft towards you and not restricting you earlier has resulted in me being in the jail today for involvement in the scam. How can I be in politics from now on? I struggled a lot to reach this level in politics, and it has all gone to ruins because of you."

Witnesses said a depressed, angry Naidu "slapped his son and beat him up".
