Sandalwood actress Pooja Gandhi on Wednesday sought security from the city police alleging that E Kiran Kumar, a family friend, was sending threatening SMSes to her.

In her complaint with city police commissioner BG Jyothi Prakash Mirji, Gandhi said the text messages from Kiran, in foul language, threatened to kill and damage her public image.

Mirji instructed joint commissioner of police (crime) Alok Kumar to investigate the case. Gandhi later filed her complaint with Kumar.

Mungaru Male producer E Krushnappa introduced her to Kiran after the success of the blockbuster movie. The two met several times and soon Kiran became a family friend of Gandhi. Her parents too came to know Kiran very well.

“After some days, I got to know that Kiran was misusing my name in the city. He had promised many people without my knowledge that he would bring me to their functions as he knew me very well. My image was damaged due to this. I discussed the matter with my parents and stopped being in contact with him,” said Gandhi.

Though Kiran tried to contact Gandhi, the actress did not respond. “He sent me messages in such foul language that I was disturbed a lot for the past three days. I have shown all the messages to police,” said Gandhi.

Following Gandhi’s allegations, Kiran was summoned to the commissioner’s office. Kiran did not file any counter-complaint against Gandhi.

The police, however, said Kiran had made allegations against Gandhi in a social networking website. Kiran reportedly posted on the website that Gandhi acted in Nee Illade, the movie in which he shared the title. They had a dispute over money and Gandhi took away his car and mobile phone.

Gandhi, however, denied the allegations and said Kiran needed medical check-up. “Kiran is not related to Nee Illade as the producers of the film are different,” said Gandhi. The police said they will be able to know the exact reason for the dispute between Gandhi and Kiran after the inquiry. “The inquiry is on and we will take necessary action if the allegation made by Pooja Gandhi is proved correct,” said Kumar.
