As per the election commissioner of India's (ECI) directive, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will conduct special summary revision of the electoral rolls of the city's 27 assembly constituencies.

Starting April 16, the BBMP will conduct door-to-door verification for 15 days.

Addressing the reporters on Friday, BBMP commissioner MK Shankarlinge Gowda said that this special revision is taken up because the ECI is unhappy with the city's Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) percentage, which is only 84% when compared to other cities in the state, which is around 95% to 97%. This time, it will be 100% , Gowda assured.

A door-to-door verification will be conducted from April 16 to April 30, he said. The BBMP will receive claims and objections from April 16 to May 8 (23 days). The disposal of claims and objections will be completed by May 23, and the publication of final roll will be on June 15. For the first time, the residential welfare association is being used for the revision of the voters' ID, he said.

Gowda said that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit every house. If there is nobody present, the BLOs will paste a letter on the door mentioning the BLO's name, the date visited, along with the contact number. The residents can contact the officer and get their EPIC card.

To create awareness a about the EPIC card, the BBMP will also conduct ward-wise rally and distribute posters. Hoardings too will be erected at various points in the city.  Form 6 will be distributed to colleges. Completed forms can be dropped at drop boxes installed by the BBMP. Two mobile vans will be in motion to collect the completed forms.
