Bangalore youths beaten up in Bellary identified as dacoits

Five young men from Bangalore, who were beaten up by a gang in a club, near Hospet, Bellary, on Thursday, have been identified as wanted dacoits by the city police.

Nine young men went to Bellary with the intention of committing looting valuables. However, while gambling at the club, they were beaten up by a rival gang.

Of the nine, four men managed to escape while five others were assaulted and severely injured. The injured men were admitted in the hospital. During the inquiry by the police at the hospital, the five men falsely stated that their were Ashwath, Girish, Kumar, Vasu, and Ajay.

Eight members from the rival gang were also arrested. They have been identified as Rajeev, Nagraj, Yerriswamy, Narasimappa, Durgappa, Chandrashekar, Venkatesh, and Shekappa. All the arrested were aged between 22 and 30. They have been identified as natives of Bellary, Raichur, and Andhra Pradesh. Police said there are more people involved in the attack, but they are absconding.

“We got to know that the gang was involved in many cases in Bangalore,” said SP of Bellary, MN Nagaraj.

“The Bangalore police will go to Bellary to arrest the five men who have been admitted in the hospital,” said joint commissioner of police (crime) Alok Kumar.

Police have identified the gang who has been admitted in the hospital as Kunigal Giri and his associates.
