Operators at the Aadhaar centre in Kanteerva Stadium called off their strike on Friday, giving the employer time to consider their demands and make suitable arrangements.

Operators had boycotted work on Wednesday, citing lack of proper accommodation and delay in receiving their salaries. Although they joined work in mid-August, they haven’t received a single penny.

The operators had called off their strike for a day on Thursday after receiving assurances that their demands would be met.
The employer promised that a salary of Rs9,950, including transport, accommodation and food allowances, would be paid.

On Thursday evening, the operators had said the strike would continue on Friday since the employer didn’t issue a written statement saying the demands would be met.

Till late on Thursday, the operators did not receive a written statement. Instead, they were pulled up for speaking to the media and about 15 protestors were blacklisted.

“We have decided to give them some time to discuss the matter and come up with a suitable decision. We will wait for some time for them to make the decision and then we will decide our next course of action,” said Mahesh P, an operator.
