Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni made his captaincy debut in international cricket 12 years ago today on September 14, 2007. 

The wicket-keeper batsman led Team India for the very first time in South Africa during the inaugural T20 World Cup. But, MSD's first match as skipper was unfortunately called off due to rain against Scotland on September 12.

It was against arch-rivals Pakistan that he took the field as the skipper on September 14.

In his debut tournament, the 38-year-old successfully led the 'Men In Blue' to a memorable victory T20 World Cup victory.
