Pakistan today assured China that it will continue anti-terrorism cooperation with it, particularly efforts to tackle activities of the East Turkistan Islamic Movement whose operatives are believed to be active in the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani conveyed the assurance during a meeting with Ai Ping, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China.

Pakistan will "persist in its anti-terrorism cooperation with, China particularly with regard to the ETIM", Gilani told the visiting Chinese leader.

He reiterated the Pakistan government's continued support to the "one China policy", Chinese reunification with Taiwan and the Chinese government's efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Pakistan considers Tibet an integral part of China, he added.

Beijing has in recent years conveyed to Islamabad its concerns about the activities of ETIM operatives based in Pakistan's restive tribal belt.

ETIM is a militant group fighting for an independent state in China's Xinjiang province that is believed to have close links with Al Qaida and other militant groups based in the tribal region.

Pakistani authorities have claimed to have killed several ETIM leaders and members in recent years.

Ai Ping thanked the Pakistan government for its continued support to China on the Taiwan, Tibet and ETIM issues and agreed with Gilani that the "excellent state-to-state and party-to-party ties should be translated into fostering even stronger economic, trade, investment, defence and social ties between the two countries".

Gilani expressed satisfaction at ongoing cooperation between the two countries at international forums and said Pakistan and China had "identical positions on most of regional and international issues" and should strengthen their coordination and cooperation at the UN.

Pakistan and China are observing 2011 as the 60th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations through a series of year-long events.

Gilani is expected to visit China in the middle of the year and the Chinese President will travel to Pakistan in the latter half of the year.
